Hello! Hadih! Núu! Bonjour! My name is Julia. I grew up and currently live in Prince George on the traditional territory of The Lheidli T’enneh. Where I am privileged to grow and learn every day. I am currently studying Elementary Education at UNBC and preparing to become a certified teacher. My family is part of the Squamish Nation (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw). Úxwumixw means “village; people”. I’m not as connected to my culture, but I am slowly learning more and more every year. I am proud of who I am and I’m always open to learning more about cultures and backgrounds different from my own. I believe that everyone deserves an education that encourages them to do whatever they can. My goal is to foster a passion for learning and to create an environment that encourages creativity and exploration. I want to make my classes engaging, and fun, while still challenging my students to reach their highest potential. Also, to help students to be lifelong learners and to think critically about the world around them. When I’m not teaching, I love to travel and explore new places, which has led me to explore beautiful landscapes. I also love to spend time outdoors, either walking or hiking. When I am not exploring outside you can find me curled up with my cat watching Friends for the hundredth time, (trying) to put together a puzzle, or just simply hanging out with friends. I also love food whether that is cooking myself or going out to eat. Above all, my heart belongs to my family, who bring joy and warmth to every moment of my life. I come from a big family which can be chaotic at times but it’s always organized chaos.

Hope you join me on my journey to becoming an educator!
